Testing Software where Cause is

De-coupled from Effect

Presented by George Hurlburt

Tuesday August 25, 2015

6:30 PM – Networking and Pizza

7:00 – 8:00 PM – Program

There is no cost to attend at McLean, Silver Spring

Software, when deeply embedded among systems, often behaves as a complex adaptive system. This is true in a system of systems or a network of networks environment characterized by modern, software-dominant defense capabilities. It will also be true as the Internet of Anything takes hold. In such instances, traditional white or black box testing, as well as modeling and simulation, all fall short of validating all potential outcomes. Rather, massive path traversal where edges convey meaning offers a potential software testing solution which is achievable when telemetry data is abundant.

George Hurlburt, a frequent contributor to IEEE journals, is currently engaged in developing a Masters Program in “Dynamic Networks” for the University College of the University of Maryland (UMUC) and working through the United Nations and other groups concerned with big data analytics to speed Ebola response and recovery in West Africa.
