Panel Overview: 

ASQ509 Biomed/Biotech SIG was established 8 years ago in the Metropolitan DC, and has grown into an open-discussion platform for 7,000+ local professionals across disciplines. Up to last August, we have conducted 180 discussion events and 2 socially responsible priority workshops using Community diversity/inclusion strength across sectors, ethnicity, and age-groups. We have successfully facilitated collaboration across teams and organizations, advised professional career and entrepreneurship, and nurtured life-long dreams of ASQ members and non-members alike. 

Our discussion will be focused on why and how we have buildt successfully this SIG platform, what operational and focus changes that we have gone through, and what value we have brought to the local community and globally. We will share lessons learned over the years, our continuous improvement impacts, and future outlook and opportunities. We will end this participation with personal belief and thoughts.

Speaker:  Dr. C.J George Changis the inaugural and current Chair for the Biomed/Biotech Special Interest Group (SIG) of the American Society for Quality Section 509 (ASQ509). Currently, he also serves on the board of the association for Government Toxicologists (AGT) and Chinese Biopharmaceutical Association (CBA).

Dr. Chang was the past presidents of the local chapters of the National Taiwan University Alumni Association (NTUAADC), Chinese Intercollegial Alumni Association (CICAA), and Chinese American Professional Association (CAPADC). He also served on the boards of Monte Jade Science and Technology Association in Metrpolitan DC (MonteJadeDC), National Captial area regional society Quality Assurance (NCARSQA), and Chinese Culture and service center (CCACC). Dr. Chang was a volunteer judge for the Maryland Baldrige Award, and served as the Education Vice President of FDA White Oak Toastmasters Clue in 2015!

Dr. Chang is a veterinarian, veterinary pathologist, general toxicologist, and analytical chemist by training.  He had worked in agrichemical, contract research, bioinformatics, and pharmaceutical industries before joined the Federal workforce in 2008.  Dr. Chang was a Biologist and helped to regulate animal feed ingredients at the Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), FDA. Since 2012, he joined the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), FDA and serves as a Senior Pharmacologist to conduct nonclinical review of oncology drug applications.  Most recently Dr. Chang completed a 6-month detail administering/conducting good laboratory practice (GLP) inspections for CDER.  Dr. Chang earned his first MS degree from University of Minnesota and his second MS and PhD degrees from the Ohio State University.  He is a diplomate of American Board of Toxicologist (DABT) and certified for quality auditor (CQA), regulatory affairs professional (RAC), and project manager professional (PMP).
