By Cars: From I-270 (N or S bound):
Take Exit 9A and exit from the FIRST right
exit; turn left (east) onto Shady Grove Dr.;
turn right (south) onto Rockville Pike (Route
355); turn left (east) onto East Gude Dr.; turn
left (north) immediately onto Crabb’s Branch
Dr.; turn left (west) immediately onto Standish
Place. The first building on your right side is
7519 Standish Place; open parking). The venue
is on the first floor with its entrance
opposite to the left side of building main
entrance. By Metro trains: Off from Red Line
Shady Grove Station, and take RideOn Route 59
TOWARD ROCKVILLE and get off from “Calhoun
Place” stop. Standish Place is next to the Bus
stop. Our venue is within 2 min of walking
distance from the
stop.
Summary:
Sam Mok will tell
you the story of how his American dream shift
after arrival in the US and provide from his
perspective some introduction of Sino-America
relationship issues and its future. As
the former CFO of Department of Labor
(DOL), Mr. Mok will also offer biotech
professionals some career advance tips.
You will come
away with some insights, some inspiration, and
some juicy
stories!
Presenter’s
Bio:
The honorable
Samuel Tinsing Mok is the managing member of
Condor International Advisors, LLC, a
management consulting firm that specializes in
providing management advisory services to
American companies in the Federal market and to
Pacific-oriented companies with a China focus.
Previously, he served as a presidential
appointed and Senate-confirmed chief financial
officer of the US Department of Labor (DOL)
from 2002 to 2007.
After receiving
an honorable discharge as a captain in the US
Army, while stationed at US Military Academy at
West Point, he served a tour of duty as a
Foreign Service officer at the East Asian and
Pacific Affairs Bureau of the State Department.
Additionally, he was director of
accounting at Time Life Books and Treasurer at
US News and World Report. He also served
as chief financial officer and Comptroller of
the US Department of the Treasury during the
Regan Bush
administration.
Mok
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
accounting from Fordham University and a Master
of Arts degree in accounting from the Catholic
University of America. He also graduated
from the US Foreign Service Institute and the
US Army Institute of Administration at Fort
Benjamin Harrison. Born in Shanghai,
China and raised in Hong Kong, Mok speaks
fluent Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese. He
is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA),
Certified Government Financial Manger (CGFM),
Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA), and
served as the National President of the
Association of Government
Accountants.
