Chair’s Message
June 2002

As we complete the 2002 fiscal year on June 30 and commence our 2003 FY, I want to take a moment to thank the many board members that have continued to support our section through their efforts of time and energy. Certainly, this has not been a year where dedicating time to extracurricular activities has been easy. Yet, the dedicated board members have continued to give 110% to making sure that the members of the Washington DC section get value for their membership dollars. I also want to thank the six new board members that have volunteered to fill gaps in our executive team. It is always refreshing to get new members with bright new ideas to keep our section on the cutting edge of new and exciting program offerings. We extend an invitation to all members to consider serving on the board or helping out with “special projects” as it is a very rewarding experience and a real opportunity to help develop an even better section.

Of course, let me not forget to thank our dedicated members that continue to support the section by attending dinner meetings, signing up for classes, attending SIG meetings and offering ideas and suggestions to improve the section. Thanks from all of the board for your continued support!

I’d like to provide a small snapshot of some of our accomplishments for the year. Of course, we didn’t do everything we wanted to do but we our very proud of the following accomplishments. We awarded our first scholarship, improved our program offerings and planning so that we identify programs further into the future, identified support for a new SIG on statistics and reliability which will be starting up soon and, increased the number of members with certifications by continuing to offer certification refresher courses for Quality Mgr., Software Engineer and Auditor.

Thanks again for your support and I look forward to seeing you at our next dinner meeting June 20th.

Tony
