Driving directions: By Cars: From I-270 (N or S bound): Take Exit 9A and exit from the FIRST right exit; turn left (east) onto Shady Grove Dr.; turn right (south) onto Rockville Pike (Route 355); turn left (east) onto East Gude Dr.; turn left (north) immediately onto Crabb’s Branch Dr.; turn left (west) immediately onto Standish Place. The first building on your right side is 7519 Standish Place; open parking). The venue is on the first floor of 7529 Building with its external entrance opposite to the left side of 7519 building main entrance. By Metro trains: Off from Red Line Shady Grove Station, and take RideOn Route 59 TOWARD ROCKVILLE and get off from “Calhoun Place” stop. Standish Place is next to the Bus stop. Our venue is within 2 min of walking distance from the stop.
Summary
In this interactive session of advanced entrepreneurship, our speaker will reflect his decades of personal entrepreneurship experience, introduce his interpretation of true entrepreneurship, and share his lessons learned and advice on the key elements of business success, facing challenges and for sustainability. Our speaker will also describe his current involvement in “Impact Scholarship”, and provide advice on scholarship fund-raising and administration, and the effective impact to younger generations.
Speaker’s Bio:
Dr. James Hsu has served as the President of Resources Management, LLC, providing management and financial consulting services for small business and not-for-profit organizations since 1999. Currently, Dr. Hsu also serves as the Chairman of the Board of SynerGene since 2005. From 1980 to 2000, He founded and served as the Chairman and CEO for Information Dynamics, Inc., providing information technology, science, engineering, peer review, administrative, and facility support services for government agencies included NASA, DOT, DOD, VA, EPA etc.
Dr. Hsu has career experience in the following entrepreneurship fund-raising and management focus:
1. Information Technology (Chairman & CEO, 1980 - 2000): IDI, Leading Government Contractor in Client Server & Internet Service Implementation
2. Clean Energy (Investor, 2001- Date): Ztek, Proprietary Zero Emission Power Generation & Renewable Energy Storage Solutions
3. Clinical-Stage Therapeutics & Diagnostics (Chairman , 2005 - Date): SynerGene, Proprietary Targeted Nanodelivery Technology Platform Broad Applications for cancer, vaccine, neural disorder, etc
4. Electric Vehicle ((Investor, 2013 - Date): Elon Musk/Tesla, Super Entrepreneur Leading the Break Out of Electric Vehicle & Battery Storage
James has also been responsible for fund-raising & managing the following “Impact Scholarships” for effective impact to younger generation:
1. Rho Psi Scholarship & Grant (1998 – Date): Leadership, Science & Technology, Sports, Art, Need-Based Scholarship for DC area High School Student; Grant for continuing youth development through college
2. Hung Chang & Anchen Lin Fund (2009 – Date): Scholarship & Emerging Technology Competition in Universities; Jimmy Lin Memorial Conference Room and Engineering Lab to inspire younger generation students
3. HCGI Fund: Scholarship & Emerging Technology Competition in Universities
Dr. Hsu is a resident of Maryland, received a BS degree in Mathematics from the National Taiwan University, and has a MS and a PhD degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1976. He also attended Wharton School of Business of University of Pennsylvania, and completed a two-year “EMBA” Program in 1979.
