Speaker Biography: Marcus Parker
Marcus Parker is a lecturer, author, and an industry thought leader with 17 years of experience. He is currently a Program Manager at the Department of Defense and adjunct Professor at Trinity University in Washington, D. C. He achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, and a Master of Science from RIT. He has published several articles in Department of Defense publications on Business Process Improvement using Lean Six Sigma and project management methodologies. He is also a content contributor in the PMBOK 5th edition chapter 8 on Quality Management. Marcus serves as President of the Project Management Institute (PMI), Silver Spring Maryland Chapter which has 650 plus members. He is the recipient of the 2015 PMI® Chapter Award for Leadership and his board of directors won the 2015 award for collaboration and outreach. He serves on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Quality (ASQ), Baltimore Maryland Chapter.
The Art of Being a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with review of the 7 Quality Tools
This is an engaging educational experience designed for project and quality management professionals. The presentation will focus on key tools that are common between Project Management and Continuous Process Improvement methodologies. Come explore how these tools, associated with the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification, can effectively be used to improve project performance.
The seven basic quality tools that will be covered are:

3) Control Chart
5) Pareto Chart
6) Scatter Plot
Participants will learn how to recognize which tool to use to tell a story with data, how to apply data analysis to make informed decisions when solving tough problems and achieve tangible results on projects. In addition, techniques for effectively communicating these results with executives in order to allow them to make informed decisions based on data analysis tools and techniques will be covered.
Participants will leave with an introduction to Lean Six Sigma and a fundamental understanding of how to execute projects with quality tools that can assist them in making data driven decisions.
