Certified Software Quality Engineer Refresher Course 

 

ASQ Section 509 is pleased to offer a refresher course for quality professionals who want to prepare for the Software Quality Engineer Certification administered semi-annually by the American Society for Quality   The course will review the seven topic areas of the CSQE Body of Knowledge.  Students will be given sample exam questions to help identify topic areas of concentration in preparation for the exam. The course will review levels of cognition and their use in defining the intended complexity of multiple choice test questions.

 

Location: Montgomery College, South Campus Instruction Building, Rockville MD 20850

 

Dates:  The course will consist of six 4-hour sessions (24 classroom hours) on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to Noon. Actual class dates are:

   April 18, 25

     May 2, 9, 16, 23

 

Instructor: Ray Miller, ASQ Section 509.

 

Ray Miller is a Lean practitioner with significant and specialized experience supporting business and technical leadership to ensure that IT products and services are designed to efficiently meet or exceed consumer expectations.

Ray's versatile engagement history ranges from boutique firms to a Big-4 consultancy in support of military and civilian federal agencies to:

  Formulate design quality strategies and measures across the enterprise

  Plan, monitor and control project resources, scope, timelines and risks 

  Facilitate adoption of Lean/Agile architecture and engineering techniques in legacy and DevOps environments 

  Evaluate both architecture and engineering work products at various life-cycle stages 

  Conduct program-level architecture and engineering quality audits 

  Mentor management and development teams in architecture and engineering quality best practices

 

Ray�s in-depth knowledge of key standards, models and frameworks include Kanban, Scrum, SAFe, FDD, TOGAF, PMBoK, CMMI, ISO, ITIL, and CoBIT. In addition to Quality (CMQ/OE), Information Security (CISM) and Project (PMP) Management proficiencies, Ray's validated practitioner-level expertise extends to Software Architecture (TOGAF), Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) and Quality Auditing (CQA).

Ray's contributing-member affiliations include American Society for Quality (ASQ), the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Lastly, Ray is a featured speaker on design quality and assurance topics as well as a recognized instructor in software quality engineering best-practices.

 

Course Approach: Each class will include a review of the assigned Primer Section reading in the CSQE Body of Knowledge, and discussion of key concepts with an emphasis on practical application.  Test questions will be reviewed and discussed.  Students are encouraged to identify areas of special emphasis in their reading and test question work.

ASQ CSQE Exam Information: 

 

Exam Date: June 6, 2015.  Application deadline is April 17, 2015.  Late registration with additional fee deadline is April 22, 2013.

 

Exam Location: Maryland suburbs of Washington D.C. Applicants will be notified of location and time by National ASQ. 

 

Exam Application: You must apply for the exam directly with National ASQ (http://prdweb.asq.org/certification/control/software-quality-engineer/apply)

 

CSQE Exam Cost: $489 for non-members, $339 for members.  Join ASQ and save!  Exam applicants are responsible for meeting ASQ�s certification requirements. 

 

Recertification: ASQ requires recertification as a Software Quality Engineer every three years either by documenting RU credits or by testing.
