Product and service development programs are overrunning and failing at an ever increasing rate. A primary cause is the failure to identify cost, schedule and performance issues before they materialize later in the development cycle, increasing cost and becoming more time-consuming to address.
An extensive analysis of over 500 programs has revealed a new, radical and comprehensive approach to risk identification, significantly improving both risk identification and risk management. Additional research revealed a standard approach to evaluating risk status for a program. By evaluating projects with a standard, comprehensive set of risks, projects can significantly reduce the monies required to address known and unknown risks, as well as avoid performance shortfalls. Research results have been incorporated in the Program Risk ID software tool. It can be used on one program or a program portfolio for direct risk identification measurement and trending through time.
A19-year veteran of The Boeing Company, she held leadership positions on several successful development programs including Space Station Freedom, the Sea Launch launch vehicle and satellite accommodations, flown space experiments, US air traffic control systems and software systems. Her past endeavors include establishing a space payload services firm, ToSpace.
Since leaving Boeing, Laurie has consulted for several years in the aerospace, IT, and environmental industries. In addition to her systems engineering work, Laurie has written successful proposals, winning billions in business for her customers. Laurie established Sysenex in 2012. She is a member of the INCOSE Risk Management and Critical Infrastructure Protection and Recovery Working Groups, IEEE, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
Her vision is to help companies to be more successful by leveraging the power of systems engineering. Program Risk ID brings that vision into reality by helping program personnel help themselves to discover program risks for greater program success.
