Certified Quality Auditor Refresher Course

ASQ Section 509 is offering a refresher course for quality professionals who want to prepare for the Quality Auditor Certification Exam administered by the American Society for Quality.  The course will cover the CQA Body of Knowledge in appropriate detail to help students prepare for the applicable exam.  Students will be able to identify topics they should concentrate on as they prepare for the actual exam.

Location: Prince George 's Community College (PGCC), Main Campus, Largo , MD

Dates: Course will run 8 weeks (20 hours) on Thursday evenings from April 16 � June 4, 2009. 

Time: 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

Tuition: $240 plus $7 registration fee payable to Prince George 's Community College.

Instructors: Joe Ludford and Tony Ingelido, ASQ Section 509.

Mr. Ludford has 48 years of technical and management experience in the product assurance and systems engineering fields.  His most recent experience includes implementing an ISO 9001 quality system in a defense contractor environment, performing quality system audits at NASA contractor facilities, and teaching quality improvement techniques at a government facility.  Mr. Ludford taught quality assurance and total quality management courses as an Adjunct Professor at Prince George�s Community College in the 1990s.  He is retired from Computer Sciences Corporation, and is the principal of White Hart Associates, for which he has provided consulting services in quality assurance and process improvement since 1997.  Mr. Ludford is a Senior Member of ASQ, and a Past Chair and Education Chair of the Washington, DC-Maryland Metro Section.  He is a Certified Quality Engineer and Certified Quality Auditor by ASQ, and has 3 other ASQ certifications.

Mr. Ingelido has over 20 years of technical and management experience in process improvement and quality systems development within the public and private sector.  His most recent experience includes implementing a CMMI ML 3 QMS for an IT support services firm in the DC area. He has also implemented ISO 9001 for several organizations and has used the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) framework to establish business systems that have been externally validated against the model. He is a three term MBNQA examiner (2006 through 2008) and holds a variety of certifications including Certified Quality Auditor, Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence and Certified Six Sigma Black Belt by ASQ, Project Management Professional (PMP) by PMI, and Certified Manufacturing Technologist by SME. He has served in various roles for the Washington DC - Maryland Metro Section of ASQ including Section Chair in 2001. He has trained over 2,500 students in quality principles, leadership, team facilitation, auditing and other managerial and technical courses, most recently having developed and delivered a four-day service quality course for the UMBC Erickson School of Aging Studies where he is an Executive Education Fellow.

Course Registration: Register in person Mon-Thu 8:30 am to 8:00 pm or Fri 8:30 am to 5:00 pm in Bladen Hall, Room 126 on the main campus in Largo , MD.  You may register the first day of class but the instructor needs to know in advance that you plan to do that.  The course will not be held unless a minimum of 8 individuals register or indicate they will do so before the first class by contacting Joe Ludford (410-394-6276, ().  Course # and Syn # needed for registration will be provided by Mr. Ludford or can be obtained from Ms. Tyler at PGCC (301-322-0032, ).  Classroom information will be provided at registration or by instructor before first class.
 
Credit: PGCC will award 2.0 CEU for the successful completion of the course.

Course Materials: CQA Primer from the Quality Council of Indiana.  Cost:  $65  The Solution Text is not required.  Materials costs do not include tax, shipping and handling.

ASQ CQA Exam Information:

Dates: Exam date is Saturday, June 6.  Exam Application deadline is April 17, 2009.  Late Application deadline ($50 additional fee) is April 23, 2009.

Location/Time: Exam location is in the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC.  Applicants will be notified of location and time by ASQ National.

Exam Application: Apply directly to ASQ National (http://www.asq.org/certification/apply.html).  Application must be made on-line or by mail postmarked no later than April 17, 2009, or no later than April 23, 2009 with late fee of $50.
