Presentation Summary:

Hepatitis B virus, second only to tobacco, is a major cause of human cancers. The current approaches for diagnosis treatment for hepatitis B infection and liver cancers and the national efforts in combating liver cancers will be introduced and discussed. An urgent need for funding to NIH and CDC on viral hepatitis is critically important.

Speakers� Biography: Mark Li, MD, F.A.C.S.G.

Dr. Mark K. Li has been a primary care physician for the past 25 years. A native of Hong Kong, he received his BA in Social Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 1972, and his medical degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1977. Dr. Li is board certified by the American Board of Geriatric Medicine, and a Fellow of both the American College of Specialists in Geriatrics and the American College of Ethical Physicians.

He is a speaker for over 10 organizations covering topics such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, osteoporosis, infectious disease, prostate health and last but not the least, hepatitis B.  Dr. Li presently serves as the President of the Chinese American Medical Society, Mid Atlantic Chapter. In October, 2009 Governor O�Malley appointed Dr. Li to be a member of the Maryland Community Health Resource Commission.
