Approximately 70% of IT projects fail. This statistic has not changed in the 20 years since such project metrics have been captured. Today�s software development efforts are more critical to company success and therefore pose a much larger risk of business failure. Now that developers presumably have more sophisticated and robust tools for development, testing, and infrastructure, this should not be the case.
