Agile Software Management Techniques

by: James Jamieson

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

5:30 PM Networking and Pizza(*)

5:50 6:50 PM Program

The Software Engineering Institute has defined the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) approach for how quality should be managed in a software development project. However, a new set of methodologies has become prevalent in recent years, which is commonly known as agile techniques. Typically, these agile techniques are not associated with CMMI, so it is important to understand what agile techniques are and how they can improve the quality of the software projects. This presentation provides an overview of the agile techniques and how they can fit with the CMMI methodology. The presentation will also illustrate application of these techniques in some real-world organizations.

James Jamieson is a program manager at Dynamics Research Corporations High Performance Technologies Group. He has more than eight years of experience in the areas of software development and project management and has been certified by PMI since 2008. In his current role, he provides leadership to two agile software development projects that are CMMI level 3 appraised and is a key leader for the application of CMMI at his company. He holds a bachelors degree in information sciences and technology from Pennsylvania State University and a masters degree in information technology. He can be reached at .
