About the Program:
This seminar will provide an introduction to Project Management & Lean Six Sigma which is designed for anyone wanting to understand the fundamentals of project management and continuous process improvement. The lecture will focus on key tools and techniques that are common between Project Management and Continuous Process Improvement methodologies. Attendees will leave with a fundamental understanding of how to Plan and Execute real world projects. The seminar covers a lot of ground with respect to processes involved in identifying key stakeholders, and steps for creating a winning Project Charter. The course will also provide information on how to achieve the world class standards of PMP� and Lean Six Sigma.
About the Seminar:
This seminar is an interactive educational experience designed to cover the seven steps to completing a winning project Charter, along with a project Supplier-Inputs-Process-Outputs-Customers (SIPOC). The students will learn how to identify and characterize project stakeholder that have a vested interest in their projects.
Key Learning Points:
1. Seven Steps to creating a winning Project Charter
2. Creating a Supplier-Input-Process-Output-Customer (SIPOC) for projects
3. How to create a Stakeholder Salience Model
Attendees will receive templates for completing a Project Charter, SIPOC and Stakeholder Salience model for use on their future projects.
Speaker Biography:
Marcus Parker is a project management and business process improvement consultant with 14 years� experience. His experience has allowed him to hold engineering and senior project management roles for several world class companies which include Xerox, Ciena, and Camber corporations. He is currently consulting for the Department of Defense where he is implementing project management and process improvement strategies for defense programs worldwide. Marcus is a proud alumnus of the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. In 1998 he achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering, and in 2002 he completed a Master of Science degree with concentrations in Product Development and Technology Management. He has published several articles in Department of Defense publications on Business Process Improvement using Lean Six Sigma and project management methodologies. Marcus serves as Vice President of Professional Development for the Project Management Institute, Silver Spring Maryland Chapter. He is also on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Quality, Baltimore Maryland Chapter. Since 2009 he has also trained over 100 certified Project Management Professionals (PMP�) in the Washington, D.C. metro area. For the past 10 years he has been happily married to Meta Parker, they reside in Severn, MD and in January 2012 they welcomed their son Marcus Seldon Parker Jr. �MJ� to their family.

From outer loop of beltway (I-695) heading east: Take I-695 east to exit 8 (Hammonds Ferry/Nursery Roads). Snyder�s Restaurant is visible as you exit. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp. Take the first right into Snyder�s parking lot.
From inner loop of beltway (I-695) heading west: Take I �695 west to exit 8 (Nursery Road). Stay to the right and turn right at the traffic light for Nursery Road. At second traffic light, turn right onto Hammonds Ferry Road.
