Certified Quality Improvement Associate Refresher Course 

Location: Montgomery Community College, 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville, MD 20850

Campus Location: South Instructional Building, Classroom to be announced.

Dates: The course will consist of four 4-hour sessions (16 classroom hours).  Sessions will be on Saturdays from 8am to Noon.  Actual class dates are: May 4, 11, 18, and 25.

Instructor: Robert J. Scanlon, ASQ Section 509.

Mr. Scanlon is a recently elected Fellow Member of ASQ with over 30 years experience in quality management.  He has held quality-related positions with Caterpillar, Inc., Southern Pacific Railroad, the United States Postal Service, and the Transportation Security Administration.  He is currently the Manager for Performance Management for the Transportation Security Administration.  He holds ASQ Certifications as a Quality Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Quality Manager, and Six Sigma Black Belt.  He has also served as a member of the Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for 14 years.  

Course Approach: Each class will include a review of the assigned Primer Section reading in the CQIA Body of Knowledge, discussion of key concepts with an emphasis on practical application.  Test questions will be reviewed and discussed.  Students are encouraged to identify areas of special emphasis in their reading and test question work.

ASQ CIQA Exam Registration: To sit for the CQIA Exam on June 1, you must register with ASQ National (www.asq.org) by April 12, 2013. The exam will be held in the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC, location and time TBD by National ASQ. The exam cost is $339 for non-members, $189 for members. 

NOTE: The Quality Improvement Associate Certification has no recertification requirements. It is a lifetime certification.
